It seems like every single day we discover a new app that changes our lives for the better. It’s astonishing just how efficient our lives are becoming. (And by efficient, I mean I am trying to buy the new iPhone X with Sweatcoins.) So, it should come as no surprise that the beauty industry has some pretty life-changing apps of its own. Here are five apps that are going to instantly up your beauty game.
The Glam App
Created by industry veteran hair-and-make-up artist Joey Maalouf and fashion blogger Cara Santana, The Glam App offers you beauty on-demand. The app works with locally-based hair stylists and make-up artists who will come to your home or office for your next blowout, manicure or last-minute contouring session. The app is beautifully designed, easy to use and it even allows you to choose a stylist and request your favorites again and again. Whether it is a lazy Sunday or an impromptu girls’ night, The Glam App is going to be your go-to.
For the beauty obsessed, regular advice and check-ups from a dermatologist is a must. But who has the time for all those appointments? Not you. Meet Spruce, the app that offers virtual dermatology appointments on your phone. All you have to do is log on, choose a doctor (they offer detailed profiles of everyone they work with), detail what kind of issue you are having, upload some photos and for $40 you’ll have professional advice (and prescriptions if needed) within 24 hours. We first saw a virtual dermatologist through the Curology service, but Spruce takes it to the next level. A must for your beauty arsenal!
You’ve probably heard of Melanie Simon, whose face treatments Vogue touted as “the holy grail of treatments.” She has since created the ZIIP Nano Current Device so that you can get her signature rejuvenating service in the comfort of your own home. First, you’ll need to buy the device, but one treatment later and you’ll know this was the best beauty buy you’ve made all year. On your app, you can choose from one of the six “electrical cocktails” depending on what your skin needs that day. The app will wirelessly send the data to your device to deliver small, energetic vibrations which are pushed into the skin through positive- and negatively-charged discs. Use it for a quick pick-me-up to brighten and tighten the skin, as anti-aging treatment, to decrease puffiness, fine lines, dark circles or to stop breakouts in the their tracks.
How many times have you looked at a colorful top, eye-catching piece of furniture or to-stunning-to-be-real flower and thought, if only I could get a lipgloss/eyeshadow/foundation in that color? Well, now you can. ShadeScout is logic-defying app allows you to point your camera at any object, capture the color and it instantly pulls up an impressive list of products in that exact shade. What is even more impressive is that it then allows you to try the product on through the app’s mirror technology. No more buying products that look hideous on your skin and say goodbye to epic shopping trips hunting for that one perfect shade that has been eluding you for years. And don’t underestimate the pure fun factor this one offers… it’s addictive.
Benefit Brow Genie
If you want perfect eyebrows, but have no idea where to start Benefit’s Brow Genie is for you. While it isn’t actually an app, it’s a website, it still made this list because of its incredible brow mapping technology. Here is how it works: Upload your photo to the website and it will provide you with an outline of where your brows should start, arch and end. You can use this as a guide to pluck or fill in as necessary. They even offer product suggestions, so it couldn’t be easier. Would you rather see a professional than risk the dreaded over-plucked ‘90s eyebrow? No problem. You can easily print out an image of you with your perfect brows and take it to a brow expert who can create the look for you.
