Shop Good Founder, Leah Kirpalani, On Her Clean Beauty Obsessions

LEAH KIRPALANI

Like so many people who have become clean-living converts, Leah Kirpalani’s health scare led her to question everything she thought she knew about living a healthy lifestyle. Her journey into holistic healing wasn’t an easy one, but it was there that she found her calling. Fast-forward eight years and the Arizona native now calls sunny San Diego home. She has channeled all her holistic health expertise into one of the city’s newest retail ventures, Shop Good. We sat down with Leah to get the scoop on her clean beauty must-haves, and we were not disappointed. Read on to find out more.

shop good botnia1. Botnia’s Hydrating Serum
Botnia is our foundational skincare line in the shop and their products hold such a special place in my heart. Botnia is the line that healed my acne and was there for me throughout my personal health journey. The founder has been a mentor of mine for almost a decade. Their Hydrating Serum is one of my all-time favorite products and a shop best-seller for sure. It includes hyaluronic acid, which is essentially the most bio-available form of water to your skin. Scentless and weightless, it seems commonplace, but I notice a difference in my skin’s moisture content, buoyancy, clarity and suppleness — especially helpful in these dry winter months!

2. TMF Vegan Lips in Bianca
Who says you can’t rock a bright red lip while still using all-natural products? This lipstick is the best I have found in a super-pigmented, long-lasting and matte natural color. I swipe it on in the morning and apply maybe once throughout the day while in the shop. With oils like avocado, jojoba and castor, the lipstick is hydrating, never drying, but also never slips off.  This brand is also special because Shop Good is the first U.S. store to carry the line. They come to us from all the way from Australia.

3. Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation
I never thought I would be a powder foundation girl. I’m known to spill and drop things easily when rushing out the door, so there was little confidence that this would be the foundation for me. But, lo and behold, I will never go back to a liquid. This foundation is everything you want in an everyday face product. It has just three ingredients, goes on smooth and even, and just like the name indicates provides a satiny-smooth but ultra-mattifying finish. It’s great for all skin types as it never cakes or slips. Plus, Alima offers 45 shades in this product, so the color matching is always spot on.

4. Wyld Facial Sponges
I love to boost my cleansing routine with this handy sponge. It is made from 100% natural Konjac plant root and softens when wet. It works to gently exfoliate and scrub, increasing the beneficial properties of your cleanser and getting deeper into your pores. I notice my skin looking brighter and much less dry and flaky, and have fewer breakouts when I incorporate it on a daily basis. Plus, I love that it comes with a little hook so you can hang your skincare BFF right in the shower to dry in between uses. It’s also super easy to travel with!

good life suntegrity

5. Suntegrity Face Sunscreen + Primer
Never. Leave. Without it on.  I grew up in Arizona with little obedience to my mother’s warning about using sunscreen. So today, in my 30s, I have to be certain I am protecting my skin every single day. This product perfectly fits into my daily beauty routine. Not only does it provide SPF 30, but offers priming effect as well. The sunscreen goes on smooth and even to blend, but then mattifies into a lightweight primer. Perfect for applying my makeup right on top. The aloe vera, jojoba and hyaluronic acid ingredients also ensure my skin is hydrated all day.
