San Diego’s Most Luxurious Spa Treatments

san diego's most luxurious spa treatments

Between the awe-inspiring coastal vistas, perfect, year-round temperatures and booming foodie scene, it’s not like you need another reason to love San Diego. However, the luxe spa culture in this town is above and beyond. With so many luxury hotels and resorts it was tough to choose the cream of the crop, but somehow we were able to narrow it down to these four. Whether you are in town visiting or a local in need of some serious spoiling, add one of San Diego’s most luxurious spa treatments to your must-do list.

The Spa at Fairmont Grand Del Mar

Having experienced spa treatments all over the world, I can easily say that the Swiss know exactly what they are doing when it comes to pampering and skin health. And finally, a little bit of that Swiss wisdom has come to Southern California. The five-star Spa at Fairmont Grand Del Mar introduced their partnership with Dr. Burgener Switzerland back in November, and they are only the second location in the U.S. to offer the premium skincare brand.

With a nod to California wine country, the Grand Cru facial incorporates the brand’s Repairing Grand Cru Gold Complex, a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes. Packed with skin-firming goodness, it also includes gold minerals and green caviar(a rare algae revered by the Japanese for centuries). Potent, luxurious products combined with skin-sloughing microdermabrasion and Ultrasound to push the products deeper into the skin, it doesn’t get much better than this. And the fact that it is set in the resplendent grounds of the Fairmont Grand Del Mar is just the icing on the cake. 90 minutes, $450 Monday – Thursday; $470 Friday – Sunday

The Spa at Paradise Point

Taking inspiration from a myriad of native rituals gathered from islands around the world, The Spa at Paradise Point is an exotic retreat nestled on Vacation Isle just off the coast of Crown Point in San Diego. And what better way to indulge than enjoying one of their luxurious signature rituals. Our pick I the Island Bliss Ritual. It starts with a bespoke 50-minute massage and is followed by a full-body exfoliation with essential oil-infused Fijian cane sugar. How do you finish off a stress-melting session like this? With a hydrating milk bath in a traditional wooden Ofura tub. Your skin is guaranteed to be as soft as a baby’s bottom. 100 minutes, $260

The Spa at Estancia La Jolla

Just named “Best Spa” By San Diego magazine, this 7,000-square-foot oasis is California luxe at its best. Nestled in ten acres of lush, leafy gardens, it’s easy to feel like you are a million miles away from daily life. The spa amenities are available with any booking — think saltwater whirlpools, outdoor lounges, a grand fireplace and meditation garden — so be sure to come early and stick around afterward to enjoy it all. And if you are looking for a treatment that will truly sweep you off of your feet, then the Neroli Blossom Experience is for you. The treatment is a blend of lymphatic dry brushing, a foot cleansing ritual with Neroli essential oil aromatherapy and meditative massage as well as energy balancing. 80 minutes, starting at $195

The Spa at The Lodge Torrey Pines

Capturing the charm and majestic beauty of Southern California, The Lodge Torrey Pines sits on the cliffs looking out over the Pacific Ocean and is within walking distance of the breathtaking hiking trails in the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. The sumptuous spa treatments are inspired by its unique location and the indigenous flora, so you can imagine just how addictive this spa can be. Whether it is your first visit or tenth, the Signature Ritual is always a good idea. The treatment combines a 20-minute soak in the hydrotherapy tub, followed by a Coastal Sage Scrub using a Vichy shower. And if the warm, soothing water pouring over your skin while you are scrubbed and buffed to perfection isn’t enough, then you’ll be happy to hear that the ritual ends with a 70-minute customized massage. Perfection. 140 minutes, $345.
